So you could wear bright orange camo and it would not matter?

Actually I think it is all marketing. My Buddys dad used to tell us that he would go out with a green and black plad flannel coat with a red wool blanket and a kerosene lantern.

He would carry his blanket in a wire milk crate with his lunch and walk into the woods. when he got there he would place the crate on its side place the lit lantern inside and wrap the blanket around him so that he got the heat of the lantern but the light would not escape and sit there. He boasts that he always got a deer.

The only thing I see in the woods is other hunters. And those ass holes are loud and drive the game away from you.

Well Sloth, considering it's usually around 30-40 degrees when we hunt, if you want to wear nothing but a bring orange vest be my guest, in no time you'll look like a eunuch lol

So if dear cant distinguish orange from any other color, why wear camo. They can see it better than orange.

They can still distinguish shades, textures, etc. Just not different colors. The texture of camo blends in with the natural surroundings, breaks up your shadow and silhouette, conceals movement, etc.. You can get camo where the background is blaze orange but the textures are natural shades, and under grayscale-only viewing, it looks the same as regular camo and conceals you better than just a flat panel of orange.

Nice buck, Psycho. Sounds like a great spread you've got access to there.

I shot my first gun at the age of 10. It was a 12-gauge shotgun. I thought that was the coolest thing ever - until my dad handed me his 30-06. That one blew me to the ground because I didn't properly brace myself as I was instructed. Plus, I was 10, so I wasn't very big yet. :) Then, when I was 12, I received a 30-30 for my birthday and my dad took me deer hunting for the first time. We lived way out in the country on a 26 acre plot, much of which was wooded, so we never had to leave home. To be honest, I never liked killing the deer, but we ate the meat, and gave away what we could not eat to those less fortunate than us. I was also taught to honor the deer and thank him for giving his life to provide us food. We also did not display the head or the rack like some of the sport hunters. I've always found that rather distasteful and dishonorable. But that's just me. I never got to the point that I enjoyed killing such a beautiful animal. But I guess it's not any worse than eating a steak from an animal that was kept in captivity for its entire life and slaughtered. And I have to say, deer jerky and venison steaks are a hell of a lot tastier than beef.

Yeah it is one of those things you should have to kill your meal at least once to appreciate the availability of the grocery store.

It should be compulsory to kill at least a chicken at least once in your life if you want to be a meat eater.
People in this country think meat grows on bushes in square blocks with a natural plastic layer.

We recently had a series on TV called "Kill it, Cook it, Eat it" where they literally killed cooked and ate animals with no cut scenes.
They had a proper slaughter house with vets and professional slaughter men and then a butchery with professional butchers in and finally a huge spit for roasting and the live audience watched the whole process then got a plate of fresh meat at the end of it.

I think Ramsay did that with Thanksgiving turkeys on his "F-Word" show to teach his kids about where food comes from. I never saw the episode where he killed and cooked them though.
