Reinstall usbaudio.sys and wdma_usb.inf (windows 7 x64)

Posted 08 June 2018 - 01:29 PM

I have a USB audio device which is showing up in the Device Manager as an Unknown Device. I have been in dialogue with the manufacturer's tech support.

They have told me that the previous installation of another USB audio device may have altered the Microsoft USB audio driver, and that I should re-install C:\Windows\System32\drivers\usbaudio.sys and C:\Windows\inf\wdma_usb.inf.

Where can I find a correct copy of these files? Any other information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Have you checked your OS install media? Maybe done a 'repair'?

Dig around for a 'usbaudio.sy_' and use the DOS command 'EXPAND' to get it.

I have searched through my install disc for usbaudio.sy_ but have been unable to find it. I also used the repair disc and clicked 'Load Drivers' and looked through the disc for it but couldn't find it. I ran a startup repair just to see if it would help but it hasn't. Do you know where in the install disc the file might be located?

Thanks.
