Wow! And I thought I was feeling very tired of leading the charge with various work issues this morning... Guido quitting brings things to a whole new level.

Heh. I was just posting this in the Python forum.

Yeah, it's an interesting situation, from what little I can see of it. The girlfiend had an interesting take on it: "I feel that as a culture we've forgotten how to work together". I think she's got a point. Specifically, I think we've forgotten how to work with people we disagree with, which is sort of an important skill.

Yeah I saw this pop up through Hacker News. I just hope it doesn't mean that crap is going to start creeping its way into Python. Too many things have started off really good, the leader pulls out or dies *cough* Steve Jobs *cough* and then things start going to hell. I think it is because of politics or the new leaders never really had the same vision as the founder or they enjoy the good life of early success and when they wake up to the realization that the company is in trouble it is too late. Could be all of the above.

But anyways, enough of that rant. I just hope Python continues to kick ass. :D

I'm not too worried about that. The python community is pretty solid, and I think a reasonable process will come up. I will be interested to see what sort of proposals are made.

In fairness, when your title is BDFL (benevolent dictator for life), what can you really expect?
