I am strongly considering getting a Pilot's License... I live closer to a Flight School than I do to work, all told it's not as expensive as it could be, and I've always wanted to fly a plane. Also, buying a plane is not quite as expensive as one might think...

Cessna's really aren't expensive, $20k=$30k? We actually drove by a house that had a landing strip in the backyard.

My local flight school also does a $300 try-out thing to see if you want to learn to fly which includes simulator and flight time. I am thinking of at least doing that to see if I'm as committed to this idea as I seem to be right now.

As for cost of planes, I probably wouldn't be actually buying my own plane until I have a few hours under my belt as that decreases the cost of insurance, but I've found a lot that are around $20k which was actually very surprising to me.

Pfffst.. get some parts off craigslist, install Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0, or later, and off you go.

For the first time in my life I could actually enter a depression contest if we're doing that. Things are getting better now though, but when my wife's 2 month or so trip was turning into a 5 month trip I could compete. She's home again now though.

I've always been interested in flying too. From what I understand, like a boat, the cost that gets you is maintenance and storage. Still though, it would be fun to do. It looks like I can score a 1944 P-51 Mustang for only $2.8 million, or maybe spring for the F4U Corsair for only $4.1 million as long as I get plenty of landing practice to make sure I don't have to replace that massive propeller every time I land. Then I'll move up to the T-38 jet trainer, paint it black, put a Top Gun logo on it, and call it a MiG-28.

Sweet Jesus, there's an F-86-F in USAF Skyblazers livery for less than $400k. Anyone want to go in on it?

The only way to make a million in aviation is to start out with two million. I had 2 years of ground school in rotc, so that was fun. Hitting hard turbulence in a Cessna scared the bijeezus outta me though, so yeah. Still love flying.

I did know of sites where you could buy demilitarized jets, F16's, real MiG's, can't find it now. I would do helo's, but planes are better for long distance travel.

I am fighting VSTS builds. Been working on this project all day and it won't build because of various reasons. They have another hour left to get out of me, after that I am back to house hunting.

Currently government auction has a few Beechcraft planes for a million eight-five. Probably ex drug lord planes.

What is, the F-86? If so, it's a model with a General Electric J47-GE-27 turbojet with almost 6,000 pounds of thrust and 402 hours on it, with an FAA airworthy certificate and registration number. Manufactured in 1952 and sent to Argentina. If it's a model, I'll still take it. Hypothetically, of course. I wonder if I'm allowed to load it up with the 6 .50 cal guns and devise some sort of confetti ammo.

Apparently the F-86 is the most-produced Western jet fighter, almost 10,000 were built, that might be why it's listed for only double the original price. In today's money the flyaway cost would be over $2.2 million with only $4700 per hour to fly.

There are currently some military jets listed for sale here: https://www.controll...litary-aircraft

However, this is more in line with what I would want, and super cheap: https://www.controll...3-piper-warrior

Project manager already dissing me and giving me disrespect because what she thought was easy wasn't actually easy. "Adding ... isn't a hard requirement, it was my suggestion to try and think ahead for future requests". Well so was I, and she was wrong lmao. Still though...

So I find myself looking for a better way for end users to report bugs in one of our applications. Every time we get a bug it comes with a video, but it's usually with an account we don't have access to and we can't reproduce the bug. I seem to remember there being something where you could allow the user to record the state of their session and send it back to the developer to load into visual studio, but for the life of me I can't find anything.

In other news, Accepted an offer and got all the paperwork signed. Start date is the 22nd, which is perfect because that means we'll still be eligible for the house. Signed the new paperwork for that today as well.

with an FAA airworthy certificate and registration number.

Definitely not a model.

I was asking if he thought that listing was a model, I'm familiar with the plane. There's a free-to-play game called War Thunder which has that one even in the same livery:

Well since a FAA airworthy cert is usually not issued to a "model" it is most likely the real thing.
