M.2 SSD Speed with my Motherboard

Posted 29 August 2018 - 02:02 PM

Hi,

I was thinking about buying a Samsung 970 Evo 500GB M.2 SSD (PCI-e 3.0 4x)
I have the Asus Republic Of Gamers Z97 MAXIMUS VII HERO which supports the ssd interface M.2 (PCI-e 2.0 2x)
The theoretical speed of the samsung m.2 ssd is advertised at Reading 3.400MB/s and Writing 2.300MB/s

I was wondering if this ssd is compatible with my motherboard and how much the estimated speed will be.
considering that I already have a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB ssd (550MB/s read&write)

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Intel® Z97 Express Chipset with M.2 support (up to 10Gb/s data-transfer)

The PCIE 2 (pciex4_3) shares bandwidth with the the pcie 1 slots and m.2.. so depends what you got for cards.

I currently only have a MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G plugged into my motherboard (I think its the PCI-e 3.0 16x slot)
I assume this is what you mean by cards?
