The most annoying window in Visual Studio :: Can you turn this off?

Posted 21 September 2018 - 09:05 AM

Does anybody have a solution for Microsoft's stupidity?

This has got to be the most stupidest annoying feature for visual studio and serves very little purpose IMO.

Does anyone know how to stop this annoying little window from popping up inconveniently when pausing the debugger?

Btw, feel free to move if not applicable to this forum. Thought this was suiting. Btw, I know there is a extension but it only works on VB.NET https://marketplace....rceAvailableTab
And there are one other... neither seem to have an effect on C# apps

Did I? I thought the screenshot was self explanatory.

Apparently not.

When you dubug a app in Visual studio and pause the debugger, you are presented with this annoying window from program.cs (see screenshot), which pops up in-front of your source code for no good reason at all. And am wondering if there is an option or an extension which prevents this window from opening when the debugger is paused?

You mean when the debugger shows you the code you're debugging?!? Yeah, I hate that... wait, what?

You can put a breakpoint further into the code.. or just walk past it.

How do you kickstart debugging? How do you pause it?

Typically, I would bung in a breakpoint in the area, or areas, of interest and start debugging. You don't want to debug every possible line of code.

No, I am not writing this up while using a urinal. That would be.. weird. Not to mention slightly unsanitary if I dropped my phone.

Hitting F5 to start debugging usually drops me to my first breakpoint. Is that not happening for you?

Mine does not open files that I don't already have open unless I step thru the code and it hits on it. The real pain I see is when it has me stepping thru assembly code while I am waiting for something useful to show.

lol

Well, No, because F5 would take me back to my application before I paused it. (As it was). I am pausing the application while i am debugging my app. Ok lets say I tested a break point and finished debugging until the debugger displayed my application again. I pause the debugger, so to make changed to my code, and upon hitting the pause button, the debugger brings up a default program.cs file to display, which totally obstructs me from making changed, and so; I need to close it.

Try what I said, and you will see for yourself. Never the less, I will assume this topic wont get a solution.

These top-most pages are rather inconvenient, and annoying. I was wondering if there is a setting or something to turn them off Andrew?

Remember not to set a break point, just debug it, let the app load, and pause it. Bang, I get the program.cs window as screenshotted up there ^

Can I get some of you to show what options you have set for these tabs squared in red please?

Why would you use the 'break all'? Think about it.. your code is paused when in an idle state.. and that trickles up the stack to the 'Application.Run'. You should be using breakpoints. I damn near exclusively use breakpoints and haven't found a need for "pause all".
