strugle with no sound hdmi ubuntu

i am having a problem with putting a sound via HDMi.Its muted, nothing.
When I tested like this:
speaker-test -D hw:PCH,DEV=7 -c 2

Hm, it looks like it is trying to default all sound to your headphones jack based off of what you have posted.

The way I would go about resolving this would be as such (sadly, sound in Linux is a bit complicated):
Install pavucontrol (may be called something different in Ubuntu - that is the Fedora name for it) and configure things using it; it seems to work the best from what I have seen at actually getting things working.

In the terminal try the following steps:

Note that the sink index with a * next to it is the default sink (output device). In my case, I just posted my current default sink.

Scroll through the output from list-sinks to find the output device you want to set things to, and copy the index for it.

Run pacmd set-default-sink SINK_INDEX_HERE with the index you copied to change the default sound device.

Now, we need to see about moving everything over to the correct sink, because that doesn't happen on its own. It can be a bit of a chore to accomplish on your own, but I wrote a script a while back to move everything for me automatically.

Just update SINK_INDEX_HERE with your appropriate sink index (that you copied earlier) and run the script to move everything over to that output device.

Hopefully by the end of that you will be able to hear your audio out of your HDMI device.
