PROBLEMS WITH SEEING SAMI FILES IN W7 WITH THE WMP CONTROL

Posted 17 December 2018 - 08:23 AM

HELLO AGAIN,
Ihope this time I can express my problem correctly.
1. As I said I have an application in VB in XP for seeing movies in avi format and the subtitles are in SAMi files, .smi and it's working quite good,
2. I've tried to put that application in windows 7, using the wmp control, and it's working ok regarding the video, but it's not working with the sami files, it shows no errors just you can't see the subtitles.

This code is the one I'm using in w7
    WM.enableContextMenu = False
    WM.windowlessVideo = False
    WM.settings.autoStart = True
    Trayectoria$ = DiscoDatos$ + "\" + Trim(DirMaster$) + "\" + Trim(CodigoGenerico) + "\"
    NombreArchivo$ = Trayectoria$ + Trim(CodigoGenerico) + ".avi"
    Archivos = NombreArchivo$
    '
    SAMILang = "Spanish"
    '
    WM.URL = Archivos
    WM.closedCaption.SAMIFileName = ArchivoSami$

    WM.stretchToFit = True
    WM.Controls.currentPosition = PosicionUltima
    WM.closedCaption.SAMIFileName = ArchivoSami$

where WM is the name of the control

The main problem is that I can't the subtitles as I do in XP. There is no error!
Regards

Hello Everyone,

There seems there is no solution of this problem in VB6, could YOU please tell me, if it can be solved with VB.NET? I hope there is someone here that can help me.

Though I am not familiar with it, I'd be willing to give a try with it.

Thanks very much for your reply in advance

First, ensure that your modules have Option Explicit at the top to point out any spelling errors with variable names.

How are you assured that there is no solution with VB6?

Note that you do not need to wrap your text in code tags.

Thanks for your reply, yes my modules have Option Explicit at the top, and I'm certain that there must be a solution in VB6, but I don't what is missing as I've tried almost everything, and as I said, the video is working perfect.
My best regards

As a matter of fact, when I started in XP this application I have to put
WM.windowlessVideo = "false"
to be able the see the subtitles, as there seems to be more space for them, and they appear at the bottom of the screen, out of the video, and I can manage everything, such font, size, color.

Now I know that the problem is with some Windows Media Player Native Subtitle Plugin which I've installed, but as there two mediaplayers, one in x64, and one in x86, it seems it takes then the one in x64 for which the plugging does not work, so I'm going on with this and let you to know if I succeed, anyway any suggestion is appreciated.
If I run the windows media player, in the file where movie and the subtitle are, it works, and this is a problem.

Well, again I want to share the fact that I have found that the main problem that I have is than in XP, the subtitles are possible because we put

WM.DisplaySize= mpFitToSize,

and the corresponding in wmp in w7 is not working, because to include sami the size of the screen must be reduce, any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks
