Insert statement problem

Posted 14 February 2019 - 06:28 AM

Whilst doing my assignment I encountered an error I haven't seen before. I executed an insert statement on my application and the next ID assigned in my participant table went from an ID of 20 to 1001. Why did it jump so much instead of going to the next available number? *I've checked the settings and it says it should auto-increment by 1. Thanks in advance!

If you have inserted and subsequently deleted many records the id-values they were given will not be reused.

Need the code. Could be what andrewsw said; could be it inserted in a loop; could be a few things.
