Simple graphics engine?

Posted 08 March 2019 - 10:12 AM

Hi. This may not be the right place, but I didn't come up with a better one.

I'm supposed to write a simple graphics engine for a TFT display on an embedded smallish device, but I'm new to graphics.
I've already learned little something, but I don't even know enough terminology to do successful google searches.

The graphics should be driven by a simple scene graph containing icons, sliders and text boxes.
The drawing is done with a graphics-optimized DMA controller (STM32 ChromeArt), so GPU-libraries don't help (I think).

There is Stemwin, but it's available only as a binary library, and not for commercial use.

What I've been trying to find out is how is that kind of SW typically implemented, and it would be nice if I learned
some more general theory and terminology too.

So if someone has good pointers...
