How to gain access to SSH

Posted 30 April 2019 - 08:29 AM

I am attempting to connect to my server's SSH. I generated a new key. The issue I am having is how to get the public/private key in order to import a key. Every time I type in
ssh [email protected]
into the command line, nothing happens.

Any tips?

When you generated the key, what did you do with it? You need to import the key into your SSH client.

You generated the key, but you didn't specify that you put it into place.
After creating the key, did you reload your terminal? Or is it still using the keys loaded at it's initiation? You can check with ssh-add -l

You also don't indicate that you know the port is open.
You also did not indicate that the network allows traffic to port 22.

You can view what ssh is trying to do by adding -v
