Javascript website that stores data from Arduino

Posted 16 May 2019 - 02:09 PM

I'm an Arduino and javascript complete noobie. I just started my first arduino project ever. I decided to follow this project:https://github.com/vaneslin/PlantManager/blob/master/README.md

After sending live data to this website using the command
node startserver.js
: http://plantager.azurewebsites.net/

I wonder if it's possible to use this website to display all the data if you are not the owner of this website (because of localhost? Do I have to change it to my hostname)? When I enter this website, they prompt the user to enter their arduino port. Mine is "COM3" but it seems that my data is not being sent, since the values are stuck to zero... Is it because it's set to work only for the creator of this project? Because I tried to changed the display of the website using the javascript files provided (display.js). I also made this modification: because I had an error with the serial port 8081 coded by the provided code, I changed the values to 8082.

If I cannot send live data to this website and use it, how can I use javascript to create a website that keeps tracks of all the data I have sent with my Arduino?
