I'm not a fan of nouning verbs, or verbing nouns for that matter. You should only noun a noun and verb a verb, it just sounds stupid to verb a noun. Am I right?

God man Nouns and Verbs not Verbings and Nounlys.

In training the next two days. Pretty basic introductory DevOps course, but it's a prerequisite for all of their cooler content. And it's an excuse to cancel meetings and reject meeting invites for the next two days, which is worth a lot to me.

Math Camp came through with an offer to teach online in July. This new online format is a pilot program, and so they are paying instructors a $400 bonus per session to teach. I'll be teaching four sections of the same course (two sections per session), which is the maximum teaching load! Also, each section is capped at 10 students. Given that I was working with a class of 330+ last semester, this will be a breath of fresh air.

This is all on top of my research assistant appointment, which my advisor pulled out of his hat for the summer when things weren't looking so promising.

Also, I spoke with my advisor today about research. A couple hours after the call, I think I made some significant progress on our problem! I need to write this up to make sure I didn't omit any details. I sent the progress to my advisor, and he agrees that this looks like the right track. So that is promising.

Received a phone call Friday that I was being downsized so I’ve been setting up interviews as quickly as possible so I have something in July. Had an interview this evening that is awesome: I know the domain; I know the competition; I have the skills and improved the processes; Then they got to the salary. There is no way I am going to be considered for this job, no matter how well I think it went, no matter how well I think I would do or what value I would bring the company.

Congrats on the online learning!

The interview went awesome, I just don’t think I’d be hired for a WELL into 6 figure salary

Well, don't shoot yourself down too soon. Maybe you're actually that good. Tell the truth, most of the people that I know who make those dollars aren't all that special. I mean, they're great people and I'm glad they're doing well, but there's nothing special about someone who makes that money. Usually, it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time and not screwing up when offered the opportunity.

Next step is interviewing with the CTO. This is actually the first interview I’ve ever studied for, and I plan on doing it again if I’ve made it to the next round. Working for the companies I have has given me a good idea on not only how to handle things at the enterprise level, but knowing what makes good bosses as well. Everything is a learning opportunity and this is no different. I have the background they want, I just am not coming from the straight manager level, which the current one didn’t either.

It would actually align well with when my last day will be as well. Definitely hoping I go forward.
