Timesheet

Posted 17 June 2019 - 10:08 AM

I am interning for a small company and my job is to make a timesheet for them. When an employee is finished filling out their timesheet, they will have to submit it and the manager/boss can accept it or decline it. There are other features that are on the timesheet. Can someone help me with this? I need to finish this by Friday and I have been having trouble making one.

What help do you need? All you have provided is the project outline & the due date. There is not anything to help with.

I can't think of a way to start this. Like I can't think of the logic behind this. I found source code on this website (http://www.java2s.com/Open-Source/Java_Free_Code/Web_Application/Download_timesheet_Free_Java_Code.htm). I don't think I am using this correctly.

You have a link to Java code, but this topic was posted in HTML/CSS. Lets start over with the requirements... what platform are you coding this in?

I am coding this in java but was told that it will be harder. So I thought it will be easier to do in HTML.

HTML cannot store data for later retrieval. While you'll be able to make something for display, it's not going to be a functional timesheet.

I don't know what you know, & if you are learning said language as you go, I would question why this is an assignment for an intern without any oversight. It also depends on what the company will support. Far too many variables to make any recommendation.

That is irrelevant. What were you told to write it in? This is basic CRUD functionality, if you are an intern, an intern of what and what education do you have to have gotten where you are?

Were you given a design of the timesheet? Is it a login/logout system, or just displaying it?

An HTML table would be the simplest. They add in hours worked, submit it. Though for someone just starting out and not sure of what to do, this will take more time than you have available.

Frontend
  - For the employee
  - For the manager
Backend
  - processes the submission of the time entry
  - sends notification to the manager
Database
  - stores
    - Employee details
    - time entries
    - approval status

No. I wasn't given a design of the timesheet. It is supposed to be a login and logout system. It's due by the end of this week so basically I am screwed.
