Localhost requests a password. Why?

Posted 01 September 2019 - 08:24 PM

Pretty green with this so am in need of some assistance please. I've installed Dreamweaver to do my site construction. Having successfully installed the WAMP server. The colour does change from red to green on the WAMP server icon so I know it is working ok and the services are running.

In Dreamweaver, I've put my site in the C://WAMP64/www/ directory. So my index.php file resides in this directory with all the other site files. To setup the testing server, I've configured the local host server in DW.

When I go to my Chrome browser and type in http://localhost/ I get prompted for a username and password. Why?

Thanks in advance.

Is there a file named "htpasswd" in the root directory of your webserver?

No, there is a htpasswd.exe in the C:\wamp64\bin\apache\apache2.4.39\bin

None in the root directory.
