Posted 05 September 2019 - 01:28 AM

dear experts here on DreaminCode

[first of all - i hope that this question is being postet in the right forum - it would be great if do not harm any
regulations and netiquette-things here. I am willing to be carefully with all i do here - especially in terms of -

- spelling the questions right
- putting them into the right forum
- takin care for the netiquette etc etx.

so the question is: is Atom project being dropped by PlatformIO?†

i am a bit astonished - i love ATOM - and i like it for its great flexibility. But i have heared that it is not accepted by the PlatformIO-Folks any more. Is this true!?

question:†is Atom project being dropped by PlatformIO?†

on a sidenote: Yes, I use VSCode on my PC too. But i am a big big ATOM admirer - since i love the seamless integration into github.

I do not like VSC - for its MS$ Background - I would be using Atom on each notebook and PC i have.†

So what is with is Atom and PlatformIO? is the Atom project being dropped by PlatformIO?†

We all have preferences for IDEs but I would try not to gain an over fondness, or even reliance, on any particular one. They are a tool and you may be asked, or even be expected, to use any particular one.

Even with good Git integration, a solid understanding of Git commands is invaluable.

dear Modi12_3 dear Andrew

many thanks for the reply. Sure thing there allways preferences when it comes to IDEs.

well i am a big big admirer of Pycharm and Atom.

the question is: What is the best environment to work with ESP32 projects: IDE-suggestion for ESP 32?†
in the recent time iíve been playing with micropython on the esp8266 and esp32 platform and the lack of a decent IDE.
Note; this will be a blocker for a lot of people - i.e. for all that start with the Espressive-things: so i look forward to see any tips or suggestions to upload MicroPython code successfully?

what i have used is the following:†

- uPyCraft and†
- Thonny IDEís to upload the usual two files to various ESP32 boards.

These IDEís are quite nice †and Iíd prefer to do all this within the one Visual Code IDE.

what about:†

- ATOM†
- Arduino-IDE p

so the question is: Is there any recommended and specific platforms that are best suited for ESP32 development? I use Linux -and i guess that there are quite a few †IDE that will work with Linux together.

What would you advise?

any suggestions !?
