Is it possible to run a c# program in dos?

Posted 30 December 2019 - 03:59 PM

One of our clients has a very old server running dos (windows 3.1), I know I can't run c# in dos because dos is a 16bit os and c# requires a 32bit os to work. My thought is to make an c# exe file in the thumb drive and then have it run in their server. Would that work or would it be better for me to make the program in c++?

Even if you had the executable on a thumb drive, you would still be running in a Win 3.1 16-bit OS. So no, it will not work.

There is a C# to native compiler, but I doubt it will compile to native 16-bit.
