Well, the protests aren't going to help, but I think the spike was already coming because of poorly-conceived reopening plans
I mean, I imagine you're seeing a lot more people gathering unsafely in restaurants and on beaches than at protests

And at least from the news articles and Twitter videos that I'm seeing, a lot of folks at these protests are good about wearing masks and such. That certainly wasn't true of the folks protesting for Applebees to reopen a few weeks ago.

Hey now mac. Those people need their mozzarella sticks.
I mean, what's more important than a side of deep-fried cheese?

Yeah, that's true mac. I'm sure it's not helping, but hopefully it's not severe.

June 24th witnessed the second highest number of new cases in a given day for the US. The highest was just two months ago on April 24th. We are seeing a ridiculous number of cases from states that have reopened without any real restrictions or safety protocols, including Florida (which had 5500+ new cases on June 24th), the Carolinas, Georgia, and California.

I finally know some of the infected. A distant relation who lives here in Phoenix got it and gave it to his wife, apparently after his son came over on Father's day after going to a gym. Thankfully they recovered quickly, they aren't that young. Yesterday had a meeting with two people from a company that is headquartered here, although I didn't ask where they live, and both of them got it independently of each other. AZ is around 5,000 new cases per day now.

We had 50k new COVID cases today. That's a record.
Also, I am loving how universities want to reopen for even partial face-to-face instruction in the fall. They honestly think college kids will act responsibly. Meanwhile in Alabama, dumbass college kids are throwing parties with the intent of contracting COVID. And administrators want me to be in a room with these morons? No thank you.
