Do I benefit from StackOverFlow badges/scores?

Posted 30 April 2020 - 08:38 AM

Stackoverflow Says:

Quote

There are no review queues available to you because one of my reviews wasn't helpful...
Come back on Sep 3 at 6:41 to continue reviewing

OK...
So the question that arises immediately is "What is in it for me?" Am I gonna get paid or something or are there other benefits in trying my best to help this site? The way StackExchange application talks to me says there is benefits in being active and nice and diligent in these sites.
I'm just curious about this.
Maybe there is something I'm not aware of. What's the point behind these badges, scores ...?
Thank You

It's all about gamification of the system. An extra level of chase mentality and a vague indicator of usage and effectiveness.

No, you won't be paid.

You should contribute to a forum, in terms of answers and helpful comments, because you want to. You might enjoy the process, enjoy helping people. You might recognise that it can increase your understanding of material, particularly when you need to describe it clearly to another person. It is a mental challenge as well.

Contributing without this interest or involvement won't last long.

It can have an external benefit as employers can look at your profile and see your areas of interest and contributions.

Employers, though, won't care much about housekeeping work, such as work review queues. Yes, you can earn some badges through this work, but it takes a lot of time and is more for those members who are frequent contributors and feel that they want to give back to the community.

Just chasing badges for the hope of some unwritten reward is not a way to live ones life.

Probably best to ask here, since this isn't StackOverflow.

It is obvious this is not a support ticket. Anyway you can enjoy down-voting my closed topic here.

And you don't need to bring up a topic you don't like.
Feel free to close/remove/ignore any of the topics you don't like.

Thank you

I don't use StackOverflow, so I won't be down, or up voting anything.

It isn't about liking, or not liking a topic.

No you don't get paid, but when you contribute to the forums you get recognised as someone who is/ has helped people in the past and has given good advice to others. Also when you apply for jobs recruiters and potential employers will look at this forum. They will look for your name, see how much of a team player you are and how you interact with others helping them with their issues. Which in many cases can look favourably in their eyes.
