GUI drag and drop or code it

So guys what you think is better when working with GUI ? using the drag and drop to create the code for you or code it yourself ?

Definitely the second. The first produces unmaintainable code usually

Java GUI Builders produce horrid and unmaintainable code. I would encourage writing GUI code by hand.

Also, itís worth pointing out that Java GUI technologies are basically dead. If you are working on a professional project, I would suggest finding a different platform for developing desktop applications.

I find the layouts in java pretty anoying to create my gui the way i want and it takes time
What other platform you suggest ?

Microsoft has invested a lot in their GUI Builders for the .NET platform. That might be a good starting point. I really donít write desktop applications, so Iím not an expert in this. I can say Java isnít the best tool for this.

C# fan here, and yeah it's solid for desktops.
