WP-API end-points for data about themes and plugins and other topics

Posted 15 June 2020 - 09:28 AM

hello dear all, good day dear folks on DreaminCode
good day dear ArtificalSoldier, good day dear Modi123

first of all: i hope that you are all fine and all goes well across the Atlantic.

WordPress.org provides several API end-points for data about themes and plugins and other topics

if we take for example the wordpress-plugins there is the plugin_api: https://developer.wo...ns/plugins_api/ which is pretty helpful and well designed.

if we take for example the themes API - then we have accordingliy https://developer.wo...ons/themes_api/

But if it comes to support - what about a Support API?

i have had a closer look at the net and googled for this thing:

all i have found so far is to parse data from each forums RSS feed - for example like so:

https://wordpress.or...xport-user-data

That does give bac the last 30 replies accross all topics for the specified plugin -

But what if i want to get back something like to get the results of the forum topics from the last 3 months
Each entry in those topics, with info such as author name, date, etc. Is this doable

i found the list of RSS_Feeds

https://wordpress.or...ordpress-feeds/

introduction to Feeds # Introduction to Feeds
A feed is a function of special software that allows feedreaders to access a site, automatically looking for new content and then posting the information about new content and updates to another site. This provides a way for users to keep up with the latest and hottest information posted on different blogging sites.
There are several different kinds of feeds, read by different feedreaders. Some feeds include RSS (alternately defined as “Rich Site Summary” or “Really Simple Syndication”), Atom or RDF files.

well how would you fetch the interesting topics from the support forum!? Which method do you use.

Use whatever they make available, so start by figuring out what they allow you to use, and what the capabilities are.
