Been feeling like crap since Saturday afternoon with a fever and headache. Went to see a doctor at urgent care today. Blood test shows some kind of viral infection. Flu test negative. Waiting on Covid test for the next 2-3 days. Quarantining myself in the downstairs bedroom for now.

To be fair what you're doing today is quarantining, so it still fits :)

Writing test units like a moo. So many variations of multi parameter input to sketch out.

Sounds like a great time to use a permutation and combination generator. Of course, you still need to do the initial analysis to find the sweet spots and the corner cases are before unleashing the generator.

I got a call at 4AM this morning from the operations ceneter. I told them I'm not on call anymore. Go away. That didn't work. So I broke quarantine to grab my work laptop from upstairs. Determined that the issue they were having was about SharePoint servers, but not the SharePoint servers that my team manages for the enterprise. There were some wildcat SharePoint servers which did not survive the latest round of security patches. I suspect that it is because IBM pushed the SharePoint CU (Cummulative Update) on them as part of the security patches. There is no uninstalling a SharePoint CU. At that point it's restore from backup. But I wasn't going to tell them that and get stuck on the phone longer. I wasn't going to wake up my teammate who is on call this week because I know that he'd been sick since Wednesday, so I just updated the ticket with a note saying that my team doesn't support these wildcat servers.

Finally making the big upgrade push. You know your servers are out of date when the version that you can update to with minimal problems is itself out of life.

Oh we're working on a full replacement for it with a new product, we just gotta keep this XP machine running until then. We have an actual desktop dedicated to it. It's comical to me.

It's why I said run it in a VM. Image the old hard drive into a .VHD file. Create a VM and have it boot off that .VHD file.
