If DIC was created as table top terrain..

Posted 03 September 2020 - 09:01 AM

If DIC were to be recreated in a table top mini terrain format what would go into it?

Would it be a stone dungeon layout, scifi, or even more high-fi with something like Shadowrun's Matrix? Orange doors and walls, or austere white panels?

How would threads be represented? Rooms? Library book shelves? Terminals?

Any specific traps, trappings, room kruft and clutter?

Derpy spam and helpvampires roaming the halls?

Spoiler

Curious on how others would view the representation of the site.

Swampie would definitely have a reality distortion field ability that has a multiplier for lowering the perception and intelligence of everyone based on the number of squares away you are. You'd also have to make a saving throw to not perceive spike pits as really comfy couches.

I am thinking 'give me teh codez' would be little faceless robed figures holding out a bowl. Like jawas.

Maybe a cold storage or crypt for the alumnis that pop back in.

Red thrown or master control panel for skyhawk.

Sickly green and cracked tiles for hacker intrusions

I'm thinking Martyr2 would be some LOTR themed narrator. Guiding our dice-bound hero on his or her epic quest through deadlines, scope-creep, & annoying co-workers trapped in the dungeon cubicles.

POPULAR

I would think, topography-wise, the terrain elevation would be based on the number of posts in a board.

Like, the average number of posts in a board would be your sea-level baseline. Anything with less than the average dips below sea level. Anything above becomes a hill.

The Flash and Actionscript board becomes a surrealist hellscape, much like a Bosch painting.

The Caffeine Lounge becomes a massive freaking monster of a mountain, the top of which is home to the elite gurus of enlightenment.

So the lounge would be Mt. Diclympus?

Maybe less of a mountain and more of a multilevel tavern!

The higher your go the more bizarre the content and context until you have to pass through one level that ends up being an 'eyes wide shut' themed area to get to the more nuanced personal heart to hearts.

Maybe a tavern-of-holding. Bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside.
