Election 2020

Posted 03 November 2020 - 08:36 AM

I think the last thread hit a record for posts.

Is everyone excited to find out who the 46th president is going to be?

I'm going to DVR the election and watch it next month, so no spoilers, please.

I'm not very confident that we're going to see a ton of results tonight, but maybe we will. We did in 2016. I guess it all depends on how close the races are.

So old conspiracies are proven a bust... again.

Quote

Durham, who is the U.S. Attorney for Connecticut, and Dannehy were also troubled that Barr had purposely misrepresented their work in numerous public comments, the two people said. According to two sources familiar with the probe, there has been no evidence found, after 18 months of investigation, to support Barr’s claims that Trump was targeted by politically biased Obama officials to prevent his election. (The probe remains ongoing.) In fact, the sources said, the Durham investigation has so far uncovered no evidence of any wrongdoing by Biden or Barack Obama, or that they were even involved with the Russia investigation. There “was no evidence … not even remotely … indicating Obama or Biden did anything wrong,” as one person put it.

I'm almost done for the day and off the rest of the week (there may be grieving, there may be celebrating... either way, I need a break). Happy Hour Numb the Anxiety Hour starts in 61 minutes.

One of our local news stations tweeted the exact last time a political ad would be shown. 5.27pm.

Best news I read all day.

Haha, that's great. News that actually matters.

CNN is pretty laser-focused on PA for the last couple hours. That NY Times breakdown was pretty informative though.

Hopefully the day-of voting gets strong numbers as well, if it does then this should be a pretty impressive turnout. Hopefully it keeps going.

Sweet Jesus, CNN has deployed Wolf Blitzer. It's getting serious.

Has any of the channels spun up their 'augmented reality' sets yet?

Are you kidding? The actual CNN studio is just a single piece of plywood painted green. It's all rabbit hole, man.

Wolf Blitzer hasn't sat at a desk in years, they just wheel him out, defrost him, and he's a man on a mission. Is he actually standing on a reasonable studio floor? The White House lawn? Donald Trump's hair? A location from Tron? No one knows.

And if you're wondering if people are messing around with touchscreens while they're trying to form a coherent thought, you better believe they are.

Wolf looks pretty good for a quasi-human cyborg who's been frozen for the last 4 years. I think they made his hair bigger.

Politico has a cool interactive graphic where you can toggle the battleground states and it shows the number of ways to win.

I was too disgusted to get good sleep. I freaking hate this country. How anybody can say that he was a good president is beyond me. My mom called, and she claimed she never liked Trump this whole time, then last night she was like "you didn't vote Trump?!". I thought she was joking, but no she went full 180 after having 1 convo with her super conservative cousin whose bum she's got her nose up constantly. Apparently "the other guy" (she didn't know his name) is going to turn the country upside down into a hell hole, and he's gonna get rid of fuel. wat? I'm actually glad she doesn't vote now. Jesus Christ, if the stupid fear mongering bullcrap was enough to make her do a 180 in 5 mins, and she's spewing complete bullcrap lies and misconceptions, then I'm just glad she can't vote.
