I have only used Windows Xp and now crappy Vista, well Vista came with the last laptop i bought and I'm to lazy to install Xp.
I'm thinking of installing a new OS that is compatible with almost all the programs out there and that does most of the things MS OS's does.
What would you recommend me ?

We've done over this a few times before... but here goes, again
Desktop:Slackware
Server:FreeBSD
Why: Because I'm up for the challenge of Slackware... I love working with the OS. FreeBSD because it's secure as a rock & offers a hell-of-a-lot of server packages.
Now... in your specific situation, you may be in a tough spot. You had better check online documentation about your specific style of Laptop. You may not be able to get XP drivers for some of the devices on your laptop. I know Microsoft has a way of issuing cheap laptops (not that I'm saying yours is) with Vista only equipment, to up Vista numbers.

Ubuntu - I have a lot more freedom, and its nice to not need to worry about forking over 1000 year to keep my software current.

Debian - workhorse: at home for a bunch of things it is simply the right tool
XP - work + at home for some things > admins only know this at work, and I don't have time to admin my own comp (well, mostly), software simply not available for Linux
Vista - at home for games only >DX10

I run Windows XP for the games and when I need to do something with Visual Studio.
Whenever I can get away with it though, I'll put Windows into a VMWare Virtual Machine and run it on top of Gentoo Linux.
Both my desktop and my server are running Gentoo. I'm about to buy a MacBook Pro, and I'll probably keep OS X on there.
The Why's:
Windows - Games under WINE works, but most of the time it is, IMHO, more trouble than it's worth. And I do actually need VS, as Windows.Forms just doesn't work with Mono.
Gentoo - I love Portage (the package manager). I know the ins-and-outs of that distro like I know the back of my hand. Everything is infinitely customizable. I can make it do anything I want, how I want it. And I don't mind the occasional bit of work that is required.
OS X - It's BSD, with a pretty top. Simple, logical, and well thought out.
In order I prefer:
Gentoo
OS X / Some other Linux Distro.
(gap)
Windows XP
(huge HUGE gap)
Vista

I'm going to have to go with Windows XP. It gets what I need done. I have Ubuntu on here too, but I still like XP. I can use it to code, I can go on the interwebz and I don't need something as solid as a rock or anything because I have no important information on my computer.

So there's actually no OS that runs all the programs a MS OS runs ? like Visual Studio, etc...

You could also argue that there's no other OS that runs all the apps that Mac OS runs, or that linux runs, or amiga, or take your pick.

On linux distros, you can use Wine to run many applications meant to work on MS specific machines.
http://en.wikipedia....Wine_(software)
that being said, if your main goal is running programs that are meant for MS OSs, I'd advise you stick with XP, Vista, or whatever you are using. Have you identified any programs you wish to run that are NOT compatible with your current setup?

Gentoo / Winblows.
Why: Winblows because without it I can't play WoW. I probably could, but wine is a pain to set up and it's only an emulator. Gentoo because I didn't care for straight Debian, and ubuntu was way too GUI.

Fedora 8 + 7, RHEL 4+5
Why? Cause in linux if there is no documentation or the program doesn't work, you say damn linux sucks, and goto the source. In windows you say damn windows sucks, and go bang your head against the wall.
