help. im new to linux. actually just installed it yesterday. im running mandrake linux 8.2 and gnome 1.4. can neone walk me through downloading and installing gnome 2.0? thanks alot!

Some advise: do NOT try installing/upgrading Gnome by hand, it's insanity; there are SO many packages you must install in the correct order or it falls apart ;). I did it back when I used Slackware. Maybe urpmi can automate it for you (look it up)? I've heard Mandrake has some installer utility (probably urpmi or based on it), so look for that too. If you must do it by hand, see the Gnome site, they have a walk through to installation somewhere.

It might already be installed if you're using Mandrake. Then again, it might not; I'm just guessing. I found its page simply by searching with Google:
