Email Issues

Posted 07 February 2008 - 09:58 PM

I keep getting email's regarding new topics, but the emails are duplicates I got the day the topic was posted. Ive received about 5 or 6 of them today alone. Just thought Id let someone know :)

Yeah. I've subscribed for the VB and C++ forums. I get 4 e-mails everyday instead of two.

I believe the reason you get duplicates is because every time someone posts a response to the topic you will get another email sent notifying you of the new reply. So once you post a reply and then lets say 3 other people post a reply after you, then you will receive 3 emails for that topic. I could be wrong though.

Personally, I disabled mine some time ago. I check the site daily about 5-6 times throughout the day, so I didn't need to know each time a reply was added to the topic.

Unfortunately thats not the issue. Take the topic BlackIP started in the databases forum yesterday, I got a notification he started the thread yesterday when he opened it, then I got it 2 more times today, same exact email telling me BlackIP opened a new topic, which in fact he didn't. Now I'm getting no notifications at all, I wonder if Chris is sending out the monthly newsletter, that usually causes a serious lag in email notifications.

Well I did say I could be wrong. :) Actually I thought you were referring to being subscribed to topics, not a forum subscription. My bad.

And yes the newsletter was sent out today, I received mine already.

I'm sending out the newsletter right now :) It takes 2 days.

I'm looking for alternatives.
