Hi
I have a vista desktop and have the fedora cd, when I insert the cd and boot from it the screen freezes at the message 'Loading ata piix driver....' and eventually asks me to locate the driver..so it looks like it cannot find the driver to install linux? Please has anyone any help to give on sorting this out as I relly want to learn linux...!

I had the same problem - my pata hard disk's boot sectors were screwed. Try running a live CD - it may not work either.

1. How many hard disks are you using?
2. What type is it ( are they)? Serial ATA or Parallel ATA?

More importantly, what PATA/SATA controller does your motherboard have?
