What does DIC mean?

We all know it is Dream in Code, but my wife disagrees. She is a Med Tech (specializing in hemotology) and says that it 'really' means:
Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation

I may have this wrong because I cannot understand that jibberish latin medical speak but I think it is were your whole vascular system starts to clot

vacular meaning the circulatory system?

the way you describe is is pretty much how i understand it from my medical knowledge generously shared by dr. gregory house.
