Desktop Pranks

Posted 21 February 2008 - 12:24 AM

Here are some pranks that i found on http://www.rjlsoftware.com:
Clippy
Have you ever been working in Windows and a small annoying Clippy assistant appeared? We have too, that is why we created this prank software called Clippy.Clippy is a simulated office assistant that, when ran, will hide in the background for 1 minute then popup in the lower right hand corner of the screen and say something useless. There is no right-click Hide option on our Clippy prank, you will think there is no way to get rid of it (but there is). Every minute, Clippy pops up spouting useless nonsense about your computer. Clippy looks exactly like the annoying Clippy assistant you are used to, complete with sound and a variable size hint box based on the size of the hint. That is not all! Clippy comes with a dozen or so default messages, but Clippy can be customized to fit your needs. You can create a clippy.txt file within the same directory as Clippy and when loaded, it will read this file to figure out which hints to blurt to the screen. The possibilities are endless. By default, Clippy will randomly read this file to get a line of text. However, there is another option that will tell Clippy not to read it randomly. You can have Clippy ask a series of questions, in order, to really confuse someone. If Clippy encounters a question mark (?) within the line of text, it will display a hint box with YES NO options that can be clicked.Clippy is a hilarious computer prank that will have you laughing for hours. Download Clippy Here .

By default Clippy displays these messages to the user:

* It appears you are connected to the Internet.
* I see that you have been using your mouse.
* Your computer seems to be turned on.
* It looks like your keyboard is working correctly.
* Your productivity has been decreasing lately. I hope everything is ok.
* Sometimes I just popup for no particular reason, like now.
* I have detected a mouse move, this was normal.
* Your posture seems to be degrading, please reposition yourself now.
* Your Windows Desktop icons are still there.
* Your monitor is operational.
* Power to your computer is constant, to protect from data loss you should install a power strip.
* I have detected your F1 key (help) to be working correctly.
* If you ever need any help, just ask me.
* Background processing has rated your typing speed to be below normal.
* Your mouse is dirty. Please clean it to restore optimal performance.
* Unable to follow your instructions.
* It is time to play a game, lets play hide-and-seek.
* Would you like me to go away?
* I thought you should know that today is [date].
* I noticed you have Internet Explorer installed on your system. You can use that to find things on the Internet.

Avoid
With this fun joke program you can make your Windows Start button avoid your mouse clicks. Just launch this program and watch as your Start button jumps away from your mouse cursor as you try and click on it.
This program will bring hours of enjoyment to any office jester. Slip this program on your bosses computer and listen to him scream.Download Avoid Here

there are also other pranks like
*Key Replace(replaces the keys every so often)
*MouseClicks(Stops the mouse from working ever x seconds)
*DirtyMouse(Simulates when the mouse ball is dirty(even when you use an optical mouse))
*Middle Finger(Displays the mouse as the middle finger every x seconds)
*Rotate(Not as amusing as the others but still pretty fun, rotates the screen when activated)

Those are just a few of the pranks i found. there are tons more at
RLJSOFTWARE

reply about your experiences with the pranks

Happy pranking :D

One of my favorites is taking a snap shot of the desktop, & then set that image as the desktop wallpaper. Then right click & uncheck show desktop icons. They'll click the shit out of their mouse trying to run programs before they ever realize...

When i was in college we had apartments and dorms. Apartments had six people in them and of course dorms only had two people.

I was always in the apartments, and shared a bedroom with the same person for 4 years. Every time we would get a new room mate we would screw with their computers.

Our favorite thing to do would be when their parents came to visit they would have to go down to meet them and let them in the building.

We had a cd made with gay porn on it, and we would put it in their computer, and then leave the room only to return later to an extremely pissed off room mate. And one time the parents actually wanted to talk to us because they couldn't believe this kind of thing went on it college!

We actually hung around the one time to see what happened and the kids parents, especially his dad flipped. They thought he was gay...his dad actually said to his mom "Barb what did i tell you?" Then looked at his son and it turned into a hour long talk if he was gay or not!!!

I wrote a program that was a DirectX version of my shatter screen program~ I was going to write a game that randomly activates and makes it look like you have random RPG battle encounters where your normal screen shatters and you begin fighting random enemies (named after parts of MS applications, viruses, and spyware), and you can level up. You can only get into encounters the more you use the mouse and keyboard, like how you run around in those old-school games for enemies to come ^^ After you defeat the enemy it gives you items and EXP and it transitions back to your normal screen on whatever you were working on XD, Jokes are fun ^^

Ha! That's pretty funny!

the only problem is... Avast blocks the programs!!!

It says "A Joke/Prank program has been detected!, Avast will now remove the program . . ."

lol!

... Thanks. Thanks for killing my buzz!

On linux systems cat /dev/random > /dev/aduio is fun, & cat /dev/mouse > /dev/audio is fun too.

Try this:

change the mouse calibration:

start>>control panel>>Mouse

Hit the "Orientation" tab

then hit "Set Rotation", drag their mouse at an awkward angle till it completes it's calibration, then close out of it all.

drives my classmates crazy.
