For Future Reference: Do not go FTD
Posted 24 February 2008 - 01:54 PM
I went through FTD.com this year for valentines day. Always used 1800flowers and never had a problem but they didn't have exactly what I was looking for this time around. Anyways, I ordered 3 weeks in advance, to be delivered on valentines day. I checked the status on the 13th and it was in a small city outside of its destination. I checked the status the day of at noon and it was in the main city. I checked the status at 8pm that night and it was back in the small city.
So DHL fucked up.
I sent FTD an email that night, wondering what they were going to do (I was already getting the cold shoulder from the expecting girl)
They promised a response in 48 hours.
No response in 72. Second e-mail.
No response until I remember this morning. Sent them an e-mail telling them the whole story, and i get the response, we have refunded your account 15% of the purchase price. 15%!?! Thats not even the cost of shipping.
So I sent them another e-mail saying they were going to lose another customer if they couldn't do more than that and the response i got was 'thanks for the feedback'.
Pretty big fuck you from them.
So. I'm done with FTD.com, and I warn you against it their customer service sucks balls, and they won't guarantee delivery apparently.
Chris' cousin also got fucked by the ftd .... so stay away.

That really sucks. Hopefully the expectant girl was a little more forgiving.
Do they actually have a guarantee on delivery?

she was forgiving after explaining to her...
but of course that day ... as it doesn't come and shes expecting... she wouldn't ever say it but you can tell.
1-800-flowers has a guarantee and will full refund, I don't know about FTD.
Though on their site they advertise a same-day flower delivery guarantee, which if you can get it out the same day...
partially my fault for not looking to see explicitly, but FTD is a huge service, rivaling 1800flowers, so its pretty ridiculous.

I would contact them again and ask to speak to a supervisor. According to their website they do a have a guarantee, although it doesn't mention anything about refunds. Considering how early you ordered them, they have no excuse for them not arriving on time.
And I would definitely call them, rather than doing it be email. You are more than likely to get better results by phone and you can quickly move up the chain of command faster that way. Use their own words against them, you should be able to get a full refund or at least 75%, in my opinion.

Holy shit, no kidding! Where my gf works they ordered some flowers for a prize on Valentines day. Same exact story, no flowers. Supposedly, the order had been canceled. Was news to her when she called in.
So after 3 phone calls, 2 weeks & no flowers. They really wouldn't budge, despite the fact that this was a business, no future business, & making a (very) bad name for themselves with the entire work force. FTD just really didn't care.

It shouldn't matter what their guarantee is, or whether they have one. You paid for a service you didn't receive. You should be able to get a full refund.
Doesn't the United States have some kind of small claims tribunal?

by not worth it, its probably not worth it monetarily.
court fees alone are anywhere from 25-50 bucks for small claims
then time then gas etc...

I agree taking them to court is not worth it, besides calling and bitching someone out on the phone would be more fun anyway!

Also, by Capty telling his story here, they aren't getting my money for any future floral purchases I make. Word of mouth affects businesses most as it is outside their control, in my opinion.
