I'm in the market for an external CD Burner.
What's the best for a good price?

I have an internal Plextor drive, and I've never seen a Plex make a frisbee..
But an external Plextor drive is gonna cost a fair bit (the internal drives are bad enough)...
That's all I can say, really.

ok, I'll remember that name. It really needs to be external because I'll mostly be using it with my laptop... :)

plextor. i've always had good luck with HP burners myself though i've heard of other people having issues with them. whatever you do make sure your burner has the most onboard cache 8 - 16MBs to prevent buffer underruns. B.U.R.N.proof drives are helpful as well as long as you have software that supports this process. do some research, but i think you'll find that plextor sells the "best" package. worth the $

hp also. nvr had a problem. but my 4x aint much to work with. it gets the job done, normally about 20-25 minutes for a full cd burn.

whatever. just because your one drive just up and failed doesn't mean HPs suck.

well the dealer I went to only had two externals, both for around $300 (can't remember which brands but neither was Plextor). That was at Staples where things are fairly well-priced. So I changed my mind and got a cheap internal one for $100... some no name (Retail+)but it has a two-year warranty so whatever... if it dies I'll just take it back. Anyway, it takes longer cuz I have to transfer the stuff from my laptop to the pc prior to burning, but other than that it seems to be working fine. :)
