well....you can go to the control panel and get into users....just go in and change your pass to nothing. if that don't work, when the logon screen comes up, type in a new name and pass, go into users, and delete them both

or you can get Tweak UI and have it put in your name and password automatically at startup

i tried the control panel/users and you HAVE to enter a password.
i didn't try the win98 disc yet...
but i had this problem before and i fixed it, but i forget now.

i dont think there is a way
when i had win98 (4 years ago) i just entered no password and the thing never bothered me again
a friend of mine who had a network DID enter a password and he always had to enter one from that day forth

Last time I checked, you could bypass it by putting something in for a username, but leave the pw field blank. Something to try... -shrugs-

On the Configuration tab, click Windows Logon in the Primary Network Logon box, and then click OK.
When you are prompted to restart your computer, click No.
In Control Panel, double-click Passwords.
On the Change Passwords tab, click Change Windows Password, select any of the check boxes that you want, and then click OK.
NOTE: If you cancel the network logon dialog box when you start your computer, the Change Passwords tab may not be available. You must log on so that the Change Passwords tab is available.
In the Change Windows Password dialog box, type your current Windows password in the Old Password box. Leave the New Password and Confirm New Password boxes blank, click OK, and then click OK.

Next time you get it just put a new username and leave the password blank.
If it is a windows networking username/password then you need to disable the Client for Microsoft Networking in the Network Properties. Right click Network Neighborhood -> Properties. Select Windows Logon from the drop down and click ok. Then make sure you put in a new username and no password the next time you get the Windows Login prompt.
