When specifiying skills/languages do you put down skills that you know but haven't done professionally? Do you include languages learned in school?

I tend not to put down things I haven't been paid to do.

That is an interesting question. I used to put any language I'd ever gone past a "Hello World" app with but now I limit myself to anything that I've designed and written a complete application with. So, for example, I include Java but leave out Actor (a really old language for making Windows 3.1 applications) because I never really wrote anything useful with it.

I personally dont have that one particular resume.
I always try to vary and edit each resume to match the specific offered position.
If i.e. I apply as a .NET developer I´m not going to mention any line of code I´ve written in Java or PHP.
In that case I´m going to focus on the .net related topics and surpress detail in other topics.

Seems like a poor idea to not mention anything about your other languages you know. Sure less focus, but as a hiring manager I would have positive feels for a person is capable of knowing other things than the one specific language, or framework, mentioned in the hiring post.

You´re right. Of course I mention all the languages I´ve used in my professional environment over the years.
It would be a shame and waste to make them a secret.

But I dont present all of them in an equal way. Thats my point.
I set priorities to the languages that match the particular job and decrease the level of detail as it´s relation to that job drifts apart.

So - coming back to the resume - I don´t have that one resume for all jobs.
One resume would have 5 parts of C# and each 1 part for SQL, Java, PHP, Delphi.
For a different vacancy the parts would change and C# only got 1 part whereas SQL would increase.
And so on
