Okay hardware isnt really my thing so you'll have to help me out a bit. I'm buying a new PC soon and i have narrowed it down to 2 packages ( pls dont tell me to build my own
) Anyways the packages are quite similar except one PC comes with 64MB nVIDIA GeForce4 Ti4200 with TV-out and DVI and the other with 128Mb ATI Radeon 9000 - TV Out + DVI. Now i just assumed that the ATI card is better because its 128mb however my friend said "not necessarily". As i said hardware isnt really my thing so can u pls help me out. Which card is better?

You should really build your own computer, what's wrong with you?
I would personally go with the GeForce, just from what I've read. I don't have any 1st hand experience on either.

Here is Tom's Hardware review for the ATI Radeon 9000.
It seems some what impressive, ecspecially if you make the move to the 9700 series. Past experince w/ ATI, for me, has been mixed. I wouldn't feel right about commenting on anything over the 8500.
Tom's Hardware also has a nice little Graphics Card comparison that includes some 30 cards and their benchmarks under several tests.

I have a Radion 7500 in my area51-m I get good frame rates and the picture is clear in DVD's so the actual question is will you notice the diffrence between 112 or 114 frames / sec ("Just an example not represenitive to the cards") I have only used ATI Ilike the all in wonders The Writeups state the Best Tv Output and I really have not seen any problems with my cards. But then again Nvidia makes some good HW also. Tell YA what Flip a coin Cause in my opinion they are both good cards.

thanx for the help everyone. i'll probably go for the package with the ATI card then. The system with the ATI card is also cheaper.

i would have gone with the nVidia. i think we've had threads about ATI vs. nVidia before. when people actually get talking you'll find people had better luck with nVidia than ATI.
ATI seems to be a better ALL-Around card, but nVidia seems to rule graphics wise. now, i've never played with any Radeon cards myself except for the cheapie in my roomates computer, but seeing as how only the beta drivers from October make it work i don't really think its that great. I have an ATI chip in my laptop and i think its just peachy for doing all the stuff it can do with video inputs... S-Video/Composite/VGA but for gaming it just sucks balls. this is just my experience. i'm sure a top end ATI card will do ok for you. besides... its cheaper. right?
