It isn't ;)
Or maybe because graphics artists are less technical, so they are easily confused when they have to choose between two (let alone three!) mouse buttons.

For the most part, that's a misconception. People view OS X as beautiful, and by extension they believe that whatever they create with it will be just as beautiful. That is rarely the case.

Realistically, you can use whatever platform and tools suit you best.

A long time ago, Macs were used exclusively for graphical design, because they had Corel Draw, & (depending on whom you asked) faster, more reliable hardware. So they were better for CPU intensive graphics. I don't have proof of this.

Apple birthed SCSI, USB, FireWire, & Plug & Play technology.

Now, Mac OSX is BSD based (Linux/Unix) & the hardware is Intel. Nothing remains of the way it was. So I think 1lacca is spot on with the basis of confusion.

Well, i have been a part of a 3D community, and I have yet to see any one of them using Macs. But for 3D you need a very strong system, as strong as you can get, with alot of RAM, lot of CPU power and well it has to be fast. Apple just don't have what it takes for you to take down this requirements.

I personally think that if you buy an Apple you shoot yourself in the foot, you pay alot more and it is not as comfortable to use. I mean they don't have a specially designed keyboard or a mouse made by Logitech or w/e that fit your hand like a glove :). I really don't know how anyone can live without a right mouse button, a scroll button and a few more for navigation. On top of that, from what I have seen, mac just wastes a lot of screen space, AND i mean a lot for its fancy interface. Bottom line i think they represent everything hat a graphic designer can do wrong. They compromised usability for a "cool" interface that gets boring really quick.

Save the money and buy a tablet or more ram :).

???????
SCSI

Quote

Larry Boucher is considered to be the "father" of SASI and SCSI due to his pioneering work first at Shugart Associates and then at Adaptec.
... Since its standardization in 1986, SCSI has been commonly used in the Amiga, Apple Macintosh and Sun Microsystems computer lines and PC server systems.

USB

Quote

The USB 1.0 specification was introduced in November 1995. USB was promoted by Intel (UHCI and open software stack), Microsoft (Windows software stack), Philips (Hub, USB-Audio), and US Robotics.

FireWire: OK, this one was really nursed by Apple.

I am not sure about P&P so this is homework.

<------ Busted! I'll give you USB, but I stand behind SCSI.

I guess I didn't make my point clear, after reading your post. I didn't mean that Apply came up with the concepts. But it was used / found in their equipment more/most/often. The IBM PC Clone did a lot of catching up to Apple (hardware wise) throughout the 80's.

Actually right now it is Apple that is trying to catch up, just look at the graphics card support especially at the 3D front. I know it is more prominent in games, but although I don't have first hand experience, I would bet that they broke enough things in BSD so that they can't take full advantage of the industry support behind *nix workstations (that is notoriously behind Windows anyway on the desktop).

I just want to point out here that Macs aren't limited to one mouse button at all - I had a Logitech MX-510 with an eMac for a good while. All you need is a USB mouse/keyboard - you can even mix and match them if you want to.

I am working on Graphic Design stuff/Web Design. I love my Mac. I am sure I would love a PC if I had one too. But it really just is personal preference.

I'm not one of those people that is going to be like, MACS ARE TEH PWNZ!!! PC SUX.

I just like my Mac. So get whatever you want :)

I <3 you axel. You are i think the first person ive ever met that would agree with me that whatever a mac can do, a PC can do too. I just find that most mac users that are average people who suck with computers thinks that the security is so much better and that macs are just better all around than PCs

*Strays off topic*

I find it funny that Apple spends so much money on commercials depicting that the Mac is better than the PC, but you never see it visa versa, coincidence, I think not :)

*Back on topic*

It's really personal choice, I am a PC user who will go to his grave saying the Mac is a complete and utter POS, not even worth of holding the title of paper weight, but that is just my opinion :)
