Does anyone still play Nethack?

Help! I've gotten hooked on playing Nethack over my lunch break - whether that's by telnetting to nethack.alt.org, or playing the tiled version I've installed on this box.

Sadly, I'm starting to get better at it - I can consistently get to Minetown, although right now my goal is to get Excalibur. I die a lot, though.

Does anyone else still play this game? Has anyone ever managed an ascension?

It was ported to the GP2X, I play it on there :P

I can't believe you've never heard of Nethack.

I'll be getting a EEE soon, and chances are I'll be using it mostly for Nethack.

Never heard of it the oldest game I think I still really enjoy is Diablo II or Dungen Keeper. I will have alook at the wiki when I get back to my workstation.

Agreed.

I'm a bit of a spoiler cheater, so I tend to use WikiHack a lot - but it doesn't help, I still die a lot. I think the best I've managed was a level 6 Elven Ranger with Orcrist(given to me by Mars after a sacrifice).
