ISEF international Science fair

Posted 30 May 2008 - 01:27 PM

So for my senior year in high school I need to do a science fair project and a college research paper. I have quite a background in programming so i figure: Instead of killing plants with chemicals, I'll do a "Design and Development" project, where I can simply write a computer program to solve a problem. Here is where you guys come in. I've given this a lot of thought and have no 'scientific' problems to solve. I want to do a project where I'd actually have to think about an answer. (i.e. I already know how to do depth first search vs breadth first search) If you guys have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Here's a topic from last year:

"Hivemind"
Using a computer models, show how ants can build intricate tunnels through smelling the pheromones given off by other ants. This had an interesting question, even though it didn't work.

I'm looking for a question, not a solution if you guys can help me out: thanks.
