I say good on em'. Ruby is having problems lately anyway. This might light a fire under their asses. It's a good language to program in, just has some major scalability issues.

True this will definitely spark Ruby up. But MS has to be more creative. They just grab ppl's ideas, modify it, and get full creditability for it

Silverlight has some major issues at this point from what I have seen, so I am not sure if it will catch on with non-Microsoft fanboys/girls

That's how business goes.... when they think its a good investment then they'll go for it..
IMO... that's how microsoft work.. they see something with potential.. they take the IDEA and developed it into a more customer oriented type.. and they are really good at it.. when its all about money.. its always a good investment to develop something that has proven itself to have potential in the market..

I think it is because Microsoft has randomly become very, very strict with their permissions. Creating an XBAP application that doesn't require full trust.. for even accessing a web service.. is a LOT of effort.
Who can be bothered with digital certificates...

Funny topic name, especially that they've just told on a press conference, that they are not copy cats, so no "Zune phone" is coming - why should they, their OS licensees do it for them anyway.

Microsoft is a business, just like any other. Flame me if you want.
It's like hamburgers. You might be able to cook a better hamburger then McDonald's, but can you sell it better then McDonald's?
