Age of Conan Anyone?
Posted 15 June 2008 - 03:46 PM
Anyone here playing Age of Conan? Level 54 (Alar) on Server Doomsayer.
Reason I ask is, I'm creating this Application called Croms Hammer. (If you spend time on AoC forums [UI Section] You'll know it). Its basically a Application that allows you to Visually create your own Interface for the Game. I'm looking for some help with it and would love if some programmers who know Visual Basic .NET would mind helping.
Anyways, If you play AoC, Message me in Game some time, I can give you a hand.

I've been playing some AoC (I bought it about 2 days after general release), and I can honestly say it's a pretty damn good game. I still think I prefer WoW more though.

My brother got AoC not long ago, and it is a pretty kick ass game.

So it's grindtastic then?
Yes. The "go out and kill this" quests that people blast WoW for are exactly the same in AoC... AoC's neat thing is the single-player mode... It's not single-player as in soloing, it's single player as in it takes you to the "night" half of the city... Where it's only you an NPCs. But it's all for fleshing out your personal backstory, and, as far as I can tell, optional. I am also told this stops at twenty... Which would make the game a grind fest until 80.

See I had a buddy who talked about nothing but AoC until realese then got the glorious super deluxe edition shortly after release. It is now on ebay and he said he was very disappointed and felt it was an extreme waste of money. This is not the case?

Depends. I was initially going to wait for a 10-day trial to come out, but I know 4 people who got it, so I bought it too. It's a really good game. It does have some issues (kinda laggy at times, and a real resource hog), but I think it's fun to play. My issue with is is that I'm so used to WoW, that I'm having trouble acclimating myself to this new game.
All in all, if you like MMORPGs, and you have the money to spare, I'd say pick it up and try it out. The normal edition, not the Collector's Edition, that is.

$15/mo. It might actually be $14.99... I didn't pay that close attention. But you get a free month of play when you buy the game, which is enough time to hit 30 or 40, if you play a lot.

I was considering getting it for a little while, it looks pretty neat and it seems that everyone from WOW is going onto this side.

A lot of people are hitting max level in 4-5 days played, so if you play a lot you should be able to hit max before your free month is up.
I personally thought the game is pretty good. Unfortunately it still needs a lot of work. However, they are releasing patches nearly every week. Stats are completely broken, many classes skills are completely broken. Even some talents are completely broken. Slowly but surely they are fixing all of these. I would almost say wait on the game if you really want a completed product. I'm also waiting until I get a new video card before I play this game again, as I am now two generations behind the newest cards and it runs like crap on my computer.
