What two things happen when the burned soot from a match box striker surface is rubbed between your fingers?

well, since no one here has answered for a while.....your fingers will create yellow smoke and then glow in the dark

keep in mind that you are only burning the striker, you have to pull the paper off

next trivia question then:

What chemical causes the yellow smoke and glowing?

Kya, you are correct!!!! Sulphur is created when the striker is burned....that causes the yellow smoke and florescence.

well the problem is that gasoline itself doesn't have an actual freezing temperature because it is made up of a mixture of various hydrocarbons with their own individual freezing points which in turns causes the gasoline itself to become a viscous fluid rather than truly frozen as each individual element freezes. gasoline's flash point is -97F which means it will still burn at that point. and there is technically no such thing as 'pure' gasoline (see definition above)....so this could technically be a trick question

edit: though i have found some sites that say gas freezes at -150C which would be around -238F...maybe that's what you were thinking of?
