I start up the computer..
It brings me to the boot selection in the linux GUI..
I select windows..
It brings up the windows logo graphic..
THe logo stays up there for longer then usuall.. (1min +)
and then says
"Not reading drive C"
Abort, Retry, Ignore, Fail?
I press retry and then get this message:
"While intitializing device VKD"
"Windows Protection Error (or somthing similiar)
and tells me to reset..
WTF?!

And this is totally random.. I never installed anything extra, nor did I mess w/ settings the last boot up.
The only thing I did last reset was release/renew my winipcfg settings.

secondly, did this start happening the first time you tried to boot into windows after installing linux?

are you sure it was VKD not VXD? because a VKD is a virtural keyboard driver and this error points to a problem with your keyboard in some fashion. here's what M$ has to say. seems like i'm always posting KB articles... does no one ever check support.microsoft.com?

bad sector in the FAT maybe?
do you have another system you can bench it on?
does linux still work fine?
my best guess (off of what you said) is that you HDD is going (gone?) south. slap it in another machine & scanDisc it...

eh.. it couldnt be my HD.. Linux is partitioned on it and works perfectly. The keyboard responds fine in linux..
Anyways.. I resolved the issue by doing a complete erase of the HD by using some 'DEBUG' commands. It works fine now, but thanks anyways guys!
