Favourite Trek

Ok, as a spin off from this thread lets hear your choices and your reasons.

I'm a big fan of DS9 myself, the early episodes were weak but it picked up a lot as time went on and the actors settled into their roles.

I think I've only watched Voyager, but it was nice.

I suppose it will always be ToS for me, but I voted for DS9 - from season 3 and on, it was easily (IMO) the best of the new Treks. TNG had it's moments as well.

They were all pretty different, despite their commonalities. :^:

DS9 usually got a little grittier. There were more battles, I think it was a little more dark than any of the other shows.

VOY was mostly good, but they had some really bad filler episodes (the one where Janeway goes to some Canadian village in the holodeck for example). I also cannot forgive VOY from "humanizing" the Borg. The whole point of the Borg was that they were unlike anything else ever encountered by the Federation. They were impossible to reason with because they had radically different values. Their ships were virtually invulnerable, and if they caught you then you were screwed. And yet somehow Captain Janeway is magically able to destroy their ships, outsmart them, make deals with them, etc.

TNG was definitely my favorite though. Q, the Borg, Picard, etc. I recently watched the episode where Riker gets accused of murder, and the rest of the episode is like a mystery to figure out what really happened. Definitely a good episode.

The DS9 and VOY episodes with Q were good too, but mostly served as comedic relief.

I like TOS, but it's so different from the "modern" spinoffs that it can be hard to compare sometimes.

ENT was really good I thought. My favorite episodes were the ones with the augments, and Brent Spiner playing Dr. Sung. :^:

TNG is my favorite as well. Data, The Borg, Picard, and Wesley Crusher were huge selling points for me. Plus, I feel that the scripting in TNG is far better then the scripting of the other series. It's the only one that I've been able to sit down with TNG playing in the background, and understand what is going on by the audio alone. There were plenty of wonderful effects thought the series, but pretty much non of them were actually required. IE, I believe TNG hit the sweet spot between Graphics and Scripting.

DS9: I never really like this series. I found the bulk of the episodes to be far less intellectual then TNG, which was a huge disappointment to me. Plus since they were mostly on DS9, the whole exploration aspect of Star Trek seemed to take the back seat.

I have mixed feelings about Voyager. The whole Delta Quadrant aspect of the series defiantly opened up a lot possibility for the series, but a lot of the episodes were just meh. Some of the races they introduced were pretty interesting, yet a lot of them were never developed beyond one or two episodes. I personally loved the episode that had evolved dinosaurs from Earth, but yet, only one episode... Other then that, it seems to me that 7 of 9 and the Doctor were supposed to be the new "Data". I hate 7 of 9. I could never believe her acting. The Doctor, on the other hand, I did enjoy.

TOS was quite fun as well. I mean, come on, who didn't like Scotty? Not to mention he did show up in one of the TNG episodes... In any case, yeah, TOS is quite different from the rest. Pacing wise, the whole series felt a lot more "sluggish" to me.

I voted Enterprise because I'm still in the process of watching season 3 (Earth v Xindi) and I have to say it is really good. Besides Enterprise I really liked TNG and the movies that spun off from the series. I didn't care for the original series and spock, it always seemed old and too fake, and I guess I like Enterprise the most because they still use Gregorian dates instead of star dates and it takes place after the first warp drives were developed.

DS9, Sisko was a hard motherfucker who had to hold it down from the Dominion. Plus it lead the way to BSG which is superior to all, it wins forever.

I voted for TNG.

I like the characters Picard, Riker, Data, the Q, Wesley, Geordi, Worf and even O Brien and Keiko. Dr. Crusher was better than the older lady doctor who I forgot her name. I didn't care for Tasha and was glad when they got rid of her. I like the storylines, too. You know they are always going to get out of whatever the trouble is, but the question is how?
It's one of my favorite all time shows. I even have a coffee cup with Picard and Geordi on it. lol.

I liked DS9 for some of the characters, but it wasn't as good as TNG.

The original series has some episodes I really like, too, but they do kinda overdo the 'captain gets the girl' story line.
