hard drive crashed, new installed but unable to load XP bach on it even with Acer recover CDs. windows 98 and vista load fine but not XP. Any ideas? please advice. thank you ( this is my first time here, if I'm posting in the wrong area please accept my appology)

Can you elaborate on what happens when XP "won't load"?

If you can elaborate on the procedure you're following to reinstall your copy of XP that would be great.

Such things like:

Do you get through the whole installation and then when it reboots for the final time it does not load into the OS?

Maybe the installation from CD doesn't start properly?

Could the media that you're using to begin the reinstallation is not 100% perfect and small defects in that media are causing issues.

The more information you give, the more assistance we can render.

I end up with a dark screen diplaying an OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND messege and a blilnking prompt and after that it will read the dvd/cd read/burner however xp will not load.

When I try to load my copy of XP, windows performs a systme check first and starts to load some files and then I get a blue screen and a stop messege, that windows had to stop the installation to prevent damaging the computer, it suggests I contacnt the manufacturer for bios upgrade or disable the driver, the stop messege I get is as follows:

STOP: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF76130BF, 0XF7A5F208, 0XF7A5EF08)

***PCI.SYS-addressF76130BF bbase at F760C000, DateStamp 3b7d855c.

After this screen the only thing I can do is reboot
