Homosexuality is not a choice.
I had a friend that committed suicide because he grew up in a red-neck racist family, & he was bi sexual. If being straight had a dollar tag, he would have gladly paid for it. He did all he could to change in preference, & he finally ran out of options.

well, it could be a strand in your DNA or genetic, but scientists have ruled that out.

I would like to reply to the original question in this thread.
You asked a simple question, "Is God real?"
I have made it a practice in my life to try and tell it the way it is, never to sugar coat anything. There is nothing I haven't lived through. There is nothing I have not done to another person in my youth. There is nothing that has not been done to me... Actually, that's to easy of a statement. Let me clarify this a bit.
For those of you who know me, you know this going to get a little graphic. You have already read some of this before. For those of you who don't know a lot about me, be warned, if you are squeamish... just scroll down and don't finish reading...
While I was in the military, I saw people beaten, everything was used from ropes to bullwhips, blackjacks, iron pipes. I saw them tortured, like stretching them out in the sun for days while pouring honey on their toes so the ants could have a treat and every few hours the ropes were tightened a little more, just so the girl / guy wouldn't stop crying. I saw women raped, first hand, up close and personal. I have seen entire villages burned down to the ground. We killed their children, so they would give us information. We did whatever we needed to extract whatever it was we came for. The Cambodian villagers had a name for us. As I remember it was something along the lines of "Evil spirits of death" or something like that. The phrase spoken in their language was ironically rather beautiful. I have been in many fire fights. When you are talking to the man in your fox hole, and turn around to see his brains splattered all around you, you realize real fast, there is a God, because it could have been you. When you have your weapon at the head of a 10 year old child, and the information you came for is called out and you don't have to pull that trigger again, you know their is a God. When you cut a man down from his device of torture and you look into is tormented eyes, you realize their is a God, that allowed him/her to live.
When I became a prisoner of the Cambodian government, all the evil we had unleashed, came back to us. We were beaten, raped, tortured, worked like dogs, starved, demoralized, and that was the first day. Everyday you woke up there, you knew there was a God. Every night when you were allowed to rest, you knew there was a God. I know there is a God because we survived. I am here today. I bore the sins of my past on my face for over twenty years, until quite recently, science had found a way to disguise them.
but they have no way to hide the scars on your soul.
When you have lived as I have, killing, and cheating death on a daily bases... you know... there is a God. I have not personally met God, but I know he exists because I have met Satan... He lives in the jungles of Cambodia. He was a constant companion, but it was God that saw me through the hell that is war. I have been shot five times. I have five little purple ribbons to prove it. It was God that allowed me to live through that. My dearest wife puts up with so much from me. Nightmares, flashbacks, my temper that still can fly off the handle... But because she exists, because she can deal with me, and handle me when I need to be handled, because of her, I know their is a God.

@Whizzy, I know that we have had our, let's just say interesting talks, but I can't remember if in any of them, I have ever thanked you for your service to this nation, and the sacrifice(s) that you have made to keep my lazy butt in The Land of the Free.
