I think the Bible is just a nice wrapper for a few truths in long-forgotten history.

You know, I haven't touched a computer in a week. I come back and... northing's changed. Kind of comforting, I guess.

To the original question, I'd simply ask for a definition of "real".

Funny, scientist have not found the "gay" gene!

This prompted my post. Because while I believe everyone has a right to believe what they like, the stupid of this one hurt.

If the proposition is that gay is a choice, go have a look at all the gay animals in the world. Because, strangely enough, most species have them. You want to tell me some mouse looks at another mouse and says, "let's piss off the folks and screw each other rather than the opposite sex." Please.

Most animals don't even get a lot of fun out of sex, anyway. You think a male black widow wouldn't just say, "Sorry babe, me and Boris are hooking up," if he had a choice?

Same holds for humans. Most people don't really get a kick out of beginning ostracized by others. Some are so cowed by peer pressure that they try to lead "normal" lives, with varying degrees of success. Some even grow up hating gays, only to find they are one of "them" and can't change it, no matter how desperately they try. Do you honestly believe people choose such a path for themselves?

The Bible is the perfect example of why proprietary software is bad. The guys who wrote it are long gone, and we can't find the source code. Sucks to debug.

Buddha had the right idea when he created Open Source Hinduism aka Buddhism. :^:

About the gay gene thing, it's a load of bull.

If anything, I'd say it's something in the brain.

They've actually proven that a gay man thinks more like a woman than a man, and a lesbian thinks more like a bloke than a woman.

It's all about brain activity.

Tom, have you ever made a post that didn't in some way refer to programming? :P

I think my avatar clearly states my opinion.. Fuck your God. And if you are right, if there is somebody up there who creates a world, gives people free-will, then punishes them in the end for going against something that is even remotely questionable. I'll tell him to fuck off to his face. Because that's nothing more that a kid with an ant farm and a magnifying glass. :D

Since I refuse to argue the whole topic - let's just take the above forementioned post.

Fuck your God! - That seems to piss a lot of other religions off *cough take your signature for instance. They don't want to hear that, they have been blowing themselves up for years over that phrase.

Because animals have homosexual relationships, it's ok for humans to do it? When did that become an argument for either side (i.e. people saying--look animals don't do <insert action>, so it must be unnatural or vice versa).

Possible explanations?

GOD?
God explicitly states that homosexual-ism is wrong. Why would he create something he hates? (Not a good argument for you agnostics and atheists, but it will make you think).

SCIENCE?
If it has nothing to do with God, then it must be born into them or inherited. OK, let's say that it is. Without God, life simply tries to exist. Why would DNA/brain activity shift to a life style that is counter to pro creation?

EVOLUTION?
No? OK. Let's say evolution is a credible theory. If the human race all evolves to a bunch of homosexuals, how is the species going to survive? Animals do not kill themselves out. Were all dodo birds gay? (They are extinct, by the way). The function of life is to continue life.

If all of these options sound dumb, then maybe you could consider that being gay is a choice. People choose who they interact with. Choosing to have sex with another person of the same gender is a choice, just like someone who likes to have sex with a tree (dead body, inanimate object, etc...) is a choice.

ALSO, on that same note, suicide is also a choice. Life is a gift. You want to waste it? Fine--go kill yourself, you'll get no sympathy from me.

I would like to, but when we, as a nation, have to bend over backwards to accommodate people who really don't have that big of a deal is irritating to me on a personal level.

First off.. I'm not exactly sure where the homosexual thing came into play. Second, I'm an atheist, I am against organized religion (especially modern day Evangelical Christianity), I DO believe in doing good and being a good person, whether you believe in a higher authority or not. I don't have a problem with people being homosexual, but I am 100% against gay marriage and gay couple adoptions. It's bad business for families and it confuses the FUCK out of children. I just personally believe that religion has become obsolete as a functioning pillar of societarian values. I think that it is the last "shackle" so to speak that humanity needs to break away from in order to continue progressively in our evolution. YES! E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N IS REAL! If you don't believe in evolution in some form or another you my friend are a minority. That and the fact that the fact of evolution actually has contributed a great deal more to society and modern day living, medicine and science than creationism ever has in the entire history of existence. You can look that shit up too. If you can point out how creationism has contributed to the well-being and prosperity of man in ways even similar in significance to the theory of evolution. I'll shut my mouth. But until then my friends, no offense, but if any other people besides "the religious" ones said that there is a guy who created everything, he lives in the clouds, and he can see everything. You would be called crazy and hauled off to the nuthouse.

You ever watch how monkeys act in the zoo?

I personally don't walk around with a thumb up my ass, smell my shit and fling poo everywhere. There are a lot of people in this world that don't believe in evolution, I am not sure how that makes the majority of this world a minority given all of the many religions.

Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Taoists, Catholics, Wiccan's - hell the list goes on and on. Many of these cultures will die for what they believe in.

I believe there is life on other planets as well, maybe not some green midget flying around in an oval doing anal probes on humans and slaughtering cows in corn fields - but that this universe was created from a higher energy.

I did not come from a ape, nor can you prove the fact that evolution is how we were created.

The Romans and Greeks believed in many gods, Indians believed in Gods, hell every culture has a god of one form or another.

There are a lot of wrong people in this world huh?

What's wrong with gay marriage?

Granted, it would confuse kids if two blokes adopted it and it had to call them both dad, but I don't see why you could be so against gay marriage.

It tends to be the people who say "I'm really really against gay stuff" that are actually gay.

And we've all seen the way you've been flirting with sloth in the lounge lately :P

I think fags and lesbians should have the right to seek the same benefits as the rest of us, as for marriage. I mean what about people that are into having sex with farm Llama's should they be allowed to wed? seriously!

Where does it stop? Why not right, we should legalize animal and human marriages as well, I am all for it if gays can wed.

I will never - as long as I live - understand the uproar over homosexuality. So long as it is between two consenting adults, where's the harm in it?

Molesting children = bad.
Raping someone = bad.
Killing someone = bad.

Two CONSENTING ADULTS doing the horizontal mambo = no one else's business.
