In her defense Alaska is close to Russia. Does that make her have more foreign policy experience? No. But if the Russians were so inclined they could invade Alaska without too much troop movement (as if they were to invade the Eastern Seaboard for example).

I'm still curious why the media is giving her so much shit about foreign policy credentials, when Obama has the same or less equivalent foreign policy experience as well.

I give less than a shit about her actual credentials, my issue is more with the way she represents, or more to the point misrepresents herself. I watched this interview and it had more cringe worthy moments than a porno casted entirely with 80 year old 300lbs women.

Just finished watching the debate. After it was over NBC had three women on (two of them Republican) talking about how much she "killed" and how the Palin haters would have a bad night now. The other women actually gave an informed and balanced opinion. Thank you to Cokie Roberts of NPR for not spewing partisan rhetoric.

My take on the debate was that Joe Biden was very articulate, passionate, and even headed. She made a lot of sarcastic remarks at him between her comments, but he typically just smiled or laughed when she did so. Sarah Palin, to me, came off as folksy (how many times did she say "gosh darn it"), cheeky, and bordering on disrespectful. He called her "Governor Palin" throughout the debate, but she kept calling him Joe and, at one point - very animated - said "Say it ain't so Joe." And to the chagrin of every educated person listening she, like Bush, insisted on saying "nuculer." Kind of off-point, but a pet peeve of mine. She also kept borrowing lines from Ronald Reagan, some she credited, some not - which made me wonder how much of what she was saying were her own words. All in all she came off sounding kind of fake with her overdone folksy mannerism and her continuous insistence that she was one of us in the middle class and that her and McCain are mavericks. I think anyone with any intelligence could see past her BS facade. But the people who can't - those are who she's trying to appeal to anyway. They pretty much make up the republican base. :)

But lets set aside the stylistic differences. When it came down to substance she is the clear loser by such a large margin that is hardly measurable. Biden at one point was talking about his involvement in Kosovo, Bosnia, and several other world events over the past many years. She replied by talking about her experience as passing a budget as mayor of Podunkville Alaska. It was like watching a boxing match between someone who has played a boxing video game and someone who is a professional boxer. At the end of the day, she may be prettier and she may have some snappy, cheeky sayings, but she is not capable of running the country if McCain dies in office. His family may be long lived, but he's really old and frankly, I'm not willing to take that chance - even if I wanted to vote for him.

God I hate politics. :)

She did better then i thought she would based on recent interviews. Her choice of words irritated me as well.

Overall I would say that both candidates surpassed my expectations. Palin and her false folksiness was very annoying though. Biden's comments came off as more authoratative than usual which is what he was aiming for. I'd have to give the debate to Biden by a pretty clear margin though. Palin just seemed to lack substance.

Both candidates are strong supporters of the RIAA. So either way the RIAA scores a big win.

I haven't heard any music that I would download - much less pay for - in a long time. I listen to NPR and occasionally some of my old techno albums; the likes of which they are not making anymore, so the the RIAA connection is not a huge thing for me.

she didn't embarrass herself, which i guess is good for her, but it wasn't exactly a win either. so pretty much were all in the same spot as yesterday. let's face it though, this is the side show, it's probably not gonna change many peoples opinions either way.

I don't mind being the minority here. I'd rather be the 1 person who doesn't listen rubbish than one of the millions don't know any better. :)

From an AP story:

Quote

"I like the way she's talking to the people," Mary Ziemianek said of Palin's direct look into the camera when she answered questions. "I hope some day she will be president."

This is the type of person who needs to not breed - ever.
