Well as some of you know i got a new cpu for christmas , and i put my old one in another computer that is used a lot , turns out that cpu was not compatable , na harm done , The orginal cpu in the Abit kt7e mobo was a 800 mhz Duron , it can take up to a 1.2 ghz Duron or a 1 ghz Ath. , I put a 950 in there after we figured out the cpu in there was not supported , ( it was a 1.2 athalon , not duron ) and now the system seems to work fine , except it locks up in windows xp pro all the time now , on screen savers , serfing the net or whatever , had it lock up on a shut down and just logging in as well , so pritty much at random , at first we thought it was the new ram , we took that out , put in the same sticks it had before , still locked up , and when this computer was a 800 it NEVER locked up so this is not normal , when it locks up it freeses cold , no errors or anything it just stops , mouse everything the whole works, and it isnt software , nothing new has been added and i have tryed a system restore , and have ran norton Util's and windows' scan disk programs , Also the cpu over heatings is ruled out , it has a new , large heat sink and fan on it keeping it at 98 - 106 F ... WItch is pritty low becuase AMD's ushally run hot , Any ideas ? could it be the CPU ?

you could try clocking it down... it could also be an older board that was used to running at 800 and for some reason or another isn't stable at the new clock speed. when in doubt try it in another PC.
