Dude im gettin a Dell
Posted 08 January 2003 - 05:27 AM
i wanted to get the inspiron 4150, but they recently removed the uxga display, so i wanted to know if anybody had one or had used an sxga+ display and was satisifed/or not satisfied with it. the difference isnt that much, but still, i wanted to know for sure fi there was any problem before i actually bought it. the sxga+ has 1400x1050 and the uxga had 1600x1200 though thats overkill as it is, but also one has 1.47 megapixels the other has 1.92. and i think the last thing was that the sxga+ had a slightly greater distance between pixels. (.204mm is the sxga+ and .190mm is the uxga). other than that there is no difference in the displays. i dont have alot of experience with laptops since ive always been using a box, thanks ahead of time for all the input.
wow i ended up writin alot...

THe uxga is a bit sharper on Image quality But it is more of a drain on battery life
Both look sweet and you can only really tell the difference when they are sitting right next to each other. But that is just my opinion. My area 51-m has a uxga display and it looks as clear as my trinitron vega monitor

I have inspiron 8000 with what ever the most expensive monitor that money could buy at that time(a year ago). It has a lot of problems recognizing the fixed media bay, the dot pitch is not tight enough to do graphic design work in Photoshop and the color is brighter on the bottom than the top of the monitor. The battery only last about an hour and it weights a ton. I'd suggest getting an alienware set up because the monitor is much nicer than what dell offers.

eurotrash, but wouldnt an alienware be even heavier and weak battery, im not sure if they still do but dont they use the normal pentium processors and such, cuz that was the main reason i didnt buy one before, cuz it was heavy as fuck and it didnt have a very long battery life.

any one of the mid line dell notebooks are usually pretty good. The low end ones i would not touch with a 10' stick but the mid - high end ones are great.

Yes the Alienware sucks down the Juce ( I basically got it as a replacement to dragging around a tower and monitor to lan partys) I get a little over 1 hour and yes that is 1 hr with both the primary and secondary batteries. the primary I get about 30+ You may want to see the review I did when I first got it ( and before I tried to use it for any length on Batteries) now if you step dow the Proc and set the Brightness to Low I can get a little over 1hr 45 minutes watching a dvd and yes the dang this is over 10 lbs over 11 with 2 batteries and you can get them with either the P4 or the P4M
