I always thought Gaim was for only for linux , but i saw a windows version and had to try it out, I love Gaim for linux but lately Ive been looking for a alt. IM client , maybe like trillian but not as much as a Resource hog, Last night i found it
Gaim for windows
- Supports multi chat platforms
- Supports tabbed browsing ( they did a OK job with it )
- Is extremely small, Though its a 7MB download, the client itself uses hardly any resouces
- Is open source
- Supports chat rooms
- History features
- Even has a Auto Spell checker built into the IM's !
There are a few fall backs, the gui is nice looking but not to fancy its pritty striped down, and there are more feautres i havent really looked at like Buddy pounce...
This will become my new default IM client ..

i dont really like gAIM, its the only thing i have found for Linux that is good, but i think i would stay with AIM for windows. also Buddy Pounce is is cool, its like the buddy alert feature but you can make it automaticly instant message someone with a message when they sign on and stuff like that.

i found the Gaim for windows to be quite differnt from the one on Linux though..

it EATS resources , its slow, some of the best AIM features are gone or are hard to use, it has bugs its just plain annoying i think.

I don't find any of those claims to be true.
Anyway, if you're just using it for AIM then go ahead and keep AIM... I need ICQ and MSN as well. :)

The window refresh rate on the chat windows in Trillian is horrible. The catagorizing is not really what I would call catagorized, and if you switch from Trillian back to AIM see what your buddy list looks like. *shiver*
